Abstract
Histoplasmosis is an opportunistic infection originating from endemic regions. Current factors such as immigration and immunosuppression associated with new therapeutic approaches increase the likelihood of disease dissemination. Hepatic involvement is uncommon and leads to an extensive differential diagnosis, potentially delaying diagnosis and resulting in a fatal outcome. We present the case of a male patient with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, whose clinical onset occurred in the context of disseminated histoplasmosis with hepatic involvement.
