Abstract
Cystic pneumatosis is an uncommon condition characterized by the presence of cysts in the submucosa and serous intestine. Although in most patients it is usually a chance finding, it can sometimes cause abdominal pain, diarrhea and even acute abdominal symptoms, as in the case presented. In most cases, conservative treatment is usually chosen, although in situations of sepsis, intestinal obstruction or suspected peritonitis, surgical treatment may be indicated as in the case described.
