Cristina Trasancos Escura,

Abstract
Stomal varices are an unusual cause of bleeding in patients with liver disease and portal hypertension that can lead to fatal outcome. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are necessary. There are different therapeutic options, although the most recommended one is the performance of a Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) procedure to lower portal pressure. We describe a case report of a patient with liver cirrhosis and recurrent bleeding episodes due to ectopic varices associated with ureteroileostomy, who did not respond to conservative treatment and finally required a TIPS procedure.
