Abstract
Spontaneous reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is extremely rare following seroconversion, with only a few cases hitherto reported. We present a 55-year-old male patient who was found to have reactivation incidentally 12 years after seroconversion. He had no risk factors for HBV reactivation. This case emphasizes the need for continual monitoring of patients with resolved HBV infection for the possibility of reactivation whether or not a triggering condition exists.
